I Found My Wedding Dress

I am addicted to watching any reality show about weddings. I sit and watch hours of "Who's Wedding is it Anyway?" "Rich Bride, Poor Bride" "Wedding Central" and "Bridezillas" yet I'm not even sure if I want to get married.

When I was a little girl, I dreamed about going to Tanzania to study apes just like Jane Goodall, not about getting married. But recently, if there's a bridal magazine in front of me, I'm all over it, which is how I found this gem. It's called Madeira by Spanish designer La Sposa. I didn't think it was possible to capture how I would want to express myself on my wedding day through a gown but there it is.

Now, thanks to these shows I also know my wedding theme, how to cut cost on the cake and flowers and where the reception venue will be. But I still have a lot of reservations about the idea of marriage itself.
Is it weird that I can picture myself as a mother more easily than as a wife?
I want to have a wedding but I don't want to get married.

Thanks for reading the blog. And I have to say, I can totally relate to this post. I have very similar feelings. I never thought about marriage until recently. A wedding sounds like...fun?

Ha. Wonderful.

ah man...once I became a feminist I was over the idea of a white poofy dress, but that's sooo pretty...how about we make up a feminist ceremony where people get to wear gorgeous dresses (the men too, if they want) and nobody has to get married?

weddings totally sound like fun (especially Mexican weddings) and I thought I was over the the poofy dress too but then bam!

judgesnineteen, I like your idea. maybe 10 years from now, if I can afford it, I'll throw a big formal party for all my friends and family, a pachanga!

(fiesta=party, pachanga=megaparty)

i forgot to add, there are reviews for a book called The Female Thing which talks about this ongoing conflict of feminist vs. inner female that probably totally relates to this and that i probably should be reading
